Stapling and Nailing Schedules
When attaching maple flooring directly to sleepers in a "floating" subfloor
configuration, all MFMA manufacturer specifications require installation
of staples or nails at every intersection between surface maple and
subfloor sleepers. Sleepers are typically spaced either 9" or
12" o.c. depending on the thickness of the surface maple. Occasionally
due to performance requirements, specifications may require greater
sleeper spacing in excess of 12" o.c. -- contact your MFMA system
manufacturer for instructions and technical advice
in all such cases.
When fastening maple flooring into a "panel" subfloor (plywood
or OSB), MFMA manufacturer specifications require installation of
staples or nails approximately every 12" o.c. Fasteners are also
typically installed near the end of each piece of flooring
-- usually around two inches from both ends of the strip.

When attaching multiple layers of subfloor plywood or other panel
materials to each other, most MFMA manufacturer specifications require
installation of subfloor component fasteners every 12" o.c.
