G.W. Martin

MFMA is pleased to induct G.W. Martin to the MFMA Hall of Fame. In 1956 G.W. Martin went into business after working for different flooring contractors in commercial and residential.

In 1965 Martin Flooring was incorporated. Concentrated in residential hardwood until 1978. Then he started installing gym floors with very limited experience but a lot of desire to succeed. Personal wealth was not his first priority.

He built the first two sanding riders that Martin Flooring Company ever owned. The main reason, was his philosophy that if you could do it yourself and cut down on cost of operation that was the way to do it. That philosophy still exists today at Martin Flooring Company.

His main goal in business was – do the best job you could, do as you told the customers you would do and more when needed and to have a flooring company financially successful and to provide a place for his three sons and his grandchildren to have a place of employment.

Currently all three sons are employed at Martin Flooring Company as well as three grandsons. Dad was and is honest and a man of his word!
